Facebook Reactions: Like buttons Makeover is now Available Globally

Your Facebook’s posts are about to get a whole lot more meaningful with the new Facebook Reactions. After testing this new functionality for over a year, Facebook, now, finally has released this brand new supercharged ‘Like’ button globally.

After getting so many requests for adding ‘Dislike’ button, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg made some waves in September 2015 that they are going to add a much-fabled option but in a more expressive way. Facebook called it “Reactions” which was a set of seven supercharged emoji that was popped up once user long press the ‘Like’ button. This option first tested in Spanish and English markets to decide on how to roll it out in a better way.

Facebook Reactions

The original set of “Reactions” emoji included following expressions:

  • Like
  • Love
  • Haha
  • Yay
  • Wow
  • Sad
  • Angry

After implementing in these highly spread markets, they found that ‘Yay’ emoji was not just being used much at all and they found it that people really doesn’t understand where to use ‘Yay’. So this week, when Facebook rolled-out these emoji globally, it was removed as it could also convey other positive emotions which are already present in these emojis.

Why this Change?

It is an extension of the regular ‘Like’ button which allows users to express their feelings in better ways as per the posts. For e.g. people can show that they are ‘Sad’on certain types of posts. And yes, we found it more useful while having hands-on it.

How to Use it?

If you are using desktop version of Facebook, hover over the ‘Like’ button or if you are using Facebook mobile app, long press the ‘Like’ button to see these brand new Reaction emoji, Like, Love, Haha, Wow, Sad, or Angry.

After thoroughly testing this option, we found that even though there are 6 ways to express on a post, ‘Like’ is still the best way to react! We, and people still use the ‘Like’ button to have a quick action on every post. Though, this feels like an excellent way to express the reactions of individual and we welcome this new feature of Facebook.
