Google to Rollout Mobile-friendly Algorithm this May

Last year Google announced on the webmaster blog that they are going to be boosting the effects of the mobile-friendly algorithm. It is commonly known as “Mobilegeddon”. It aims at considerably changing the search results for mobile devices to give high priority to mobile ready websites over non-mobile ready websites.

With that news many website owners are worried about their ranking on Google because if their website is not mobile-friendly, then they are surely going to lose their ranking positions. But, for those who are mobile-friendly, it is very good news and they will not be impacted by this update.

Google has confirmed that they will roll out this update in phases and gradually. So people will not see a major changes in ranking when the algorithm is released. Full rollout of the algorithm will take some weeks or months, told by Google. According to them they are starting to roll out the “Mobilegeddon” in the beginning of May.

Working of the Algorithm and Impact

This algorithm is a page-by-page signal which are sent to Google to asses each page of a website. As the Google has to crawl through each page and then index all of the webpages of every website, it will be a gradual rollout. The impact of this mobile-friendly algorithm can be slow to show up.

The webmaster community has not been too impressed with the level of implication in the mobile results which are given by the algorithm. That means, webmaster community is still not noticing any considerable changes to the mobile search rankings. Overall feedback from webmasters is low around mobile ranking changes.

Final Verdict

So after so many analysis and researches, we have come to the conclusion that this algorithm will not majorly impact your website in near future but in the long run, it will definitely make the difference. If your website is not-mobile friendly yet, ensure that you update it as soon as possible.
