By looking at the revolution of smartphones and tablets, it is easy to see the need for websites to focus on developing a clean platform for individuals who are not simply using the old fashioned computer. Responsive web design means that websites are accessible from every possible device, from desktops to phones. When designers focus on this type of accessibility, they’re increasing the success of the business or brand for which they’re designing. It doesn’t take much time, but the benefits are more than worth the effort.
Responsive web design makes everything more accessible. Users enjoy it more when they can easily access a website, blog, or online store on their phones, tablets, and computers. If they try to load up a site they enjoy on their phones, only to find that half the features aren’t working or there are bugs, it can actually turn them off of the brand or business in question.
Since people spend a lot more time on their phones, web designers need to start there. When designing websites, it’s imperative to make sure they’re mobile-friendly. While many businesses, companies, and brands now offer separate apps to fans and customers, that’s not enough. A site should also be available on mobile devices.
Total Convenience and Efficiency
Everyone looks for convenience today. They want an efficient experience, whether they’re shopping online, paying their bills, or reading their favorite blogs. People buy laptops so they can easily take their computers with them. They access the web through their phones and tablets so they aren’t completely tethered to their desks all the time. Responsive design pleases them because of its overall convenience.
Web pages with responsive design don’t need a lot of maintenance. Because the same address works across all possible devices, bookmarks stay steady. The sites don’t go down as often, so users can always access their favorite hot spots on the Internet. All it takes is an update, which means that users and fans get new information quickly and conveniently.
A User-Friendly Experience
In much the same vein, responsive design is incredibly user-friendly. Again, users don’t have to go looking for mobile sites. Instead, they know that what they see on their desktops and laptops is the same thing they’ll see on their phones and tablets. That’s essential, because no one wants to think they’re missing anything.
This type of design also allows designers to create more vibrant images. In fact, the image quality within responsive design is brightly enhanced, attractive, and crystal clear at least that’s the ideal. When creating a responsive platform, designers need to pay attention to that. Quick browsing speed is also essential, so make sure that text and images are both fully optimized, with no clutter.
Major Marketing Advantages
Brands and companies are also able to market their sites much more successfully when they’re focused on responsive design. The reason is simple: you’ve got potential customers coming at you from all angles. Think of how many people own smartphones and tablets. Think of where and when they browse. People are now shopping and searching while they stand in line, wait for the train, and eat dinner in restaurants. Marketing campaigns are helpful, but even they aren’t necessary. If you get the word out, people will come.
What will be the future for web design? It may reach a point that mobile sites implement features requiring bluetooth accessories which will need an even more evolved responsive design. If you are not making the changes to your site now, how far behind will you be for the next advancement?
